Week 1 - Discussion Board Question 1 Review the chapter readings and the powerpoint. Respond to the following. 1.1 Describe a recent moral dilemma you experienced during a work situation. Explain how you resolved the dilemma 1.2 The Powerpoint and chapter reading discusses six ethical moral theories. Which theory do you think you follow. Explain why.
Week 1- Discussion Board Question 2 Review chapter readings and powerpoint. Respond to the following. 2.1 Describe a time when you felt you were in a "situational control". Describe how you not appear to be acting in a free manner. 2.2 If you had to choose one of the theories within the "doing" or "being" groups, which theory do you relate to the most? Why?
Week 2 - Discussion Board Question 1 Review readings and powerpoint. Respond to the following. In this session powerpoint, several URLs are listed for various ethical standards. Print and review the NOSHE and one other Code of Ethic Standards. Compare the two standards regarding issues of: confidentiality, dating clients, working with diverse cultures. Compare how the standards are alike and different. Find a recent newspaper article where a client's ethical standards were clearly violated. Provide us the URL in the posting and describe briefly what NOSHE standards were violated.
Week 2- Discussion Board Question 2 Review the chapter readings, Flu Shot article in the Course Sessions and powerpoint. Respond to the following. What is your reaction to Kohlberg's theory on Moral Development? What do you think the strengths and weaknesses are to this theory? Read the article Who Should Get the Flu Shot in Course Session #4 Documents. Who do you think should get the flu shot? Why?
Week 3 - Discussion Board Question 1 Review readings, powerpoint, article about Lesbian Couple (see course session #5) and respond to the following. Find an article from a local newspaper, magazine or website about an ethical dilemma involving a woman. Cite the article and discuss the article from one of the feminist perspectives discussed in the text or in the powerpoint. Following the review of the powerpoint for this week, choose a feminist theorist you agree with the principles asserted and a feminist theorist you disagree with the principles asserted. Review the article Lesbian Couple in the Course Session #5 section. React to the article either supporting the couple or not supporting the couple. Describe your rationale for your reaction.
Week 3 - Discussion Board Question 2 Review readings, powerpoint and article regarding Breast Cancer (Course Session #6). Respond to the following. Give an example of when you experienced a "multicultural state". How did that state effect your relationship with that individual? Read the article regarding breast cancer. What rights and standards were violated during this study? Describe a situation in the past, where you have personally experienced or have observed someone else to be ethnocentric.
Week 4 - Discussion Board Question 1 Review readings, powerpoint and Age Old Question article. Respond to the following. Review the article on Age Old Question (Course Session). Take a position on the elderly driving vehicles. Support your position using the NOSHE standards. Which standards in support your position? Does your position compromise any of the standards, if so- which ones? Review this week powerpoint session #7. Regarding the first exercise "Identify your own values...", take three of the values listed that you have the most opinion about. Explain how you feel about these values/issues and explain how you might be biased when working with a client who has different feelings about these values. Take one of the stress tests in the powerpoint. How did you score? Are you taking care of yourself? How do you intend to take better care of yourself? Why is it important for "helpers" to take care of themselves?
Week 4- Discussion Board Question 2 Review Ethical Situations (Course Session # 8), readings and powerpoint. Respond to the following. Review the Ethical Situations document. Choose three issues in the document. Use the NOSHE standards or standards specific to your interest area. Identify which standards would address the following situations and what action you might take. Describe what you would do to ensure that you had "helper competence". Describe two scenarios when you would not keep a client's confidentiality.
Week 5 - Discussion Board Question 1 Review readings and powerpoint. Respond to the following. Find an article in a local newspaper where someone has been involved in a dual relationship. Explain what kind of dual relationship the person was involved in. Describe how it could have been avoided. Provide the URL of the article in the posting. Should "helpers" ever be in a sexual relationship with a former client? Use the Code of Ethics/Standards you printed that represent your interest area. What do the standards suggest or say? Explain if you think it would be "wrong" to sell your car to a client. Cite Standards to support your answer.
Week 5 - Discussion Board Question 2 Review the readings and powerpoint. Respond to the following. What was your most significant learning in this course? What idea in this week powerpoint do you think you need to address and work on? How will you go about that? What steps will you take?
